I get really excited when there is a teaching and learning Psychology conference on my schedule. As a courseware consultant and subject matter expert for the undergrad Psychology courses, the conferences are always inspiring, with multiple hands-on workshops, plus loads of opportunities for professional development and networking. These conferences focused on the teaching of Psychology provide a platform to connect with educators, learn about the latest trends in the field, and gain insights into the needs and preferences of students.
Connecting with Adopters and Faculty
One of the most rewarding aspects of attending psychology conferences is the chance to connect with professors who have adopted the intro to Psychology online course I represent. By engaging in conversations with these educators, I gain valuable feedback on the effectiveness of our materials and identify areas for improvement and suggestions for more intro courses. Additionally, participating in faculty discussions allows me to understand the evolving needs of instructors and contribute to shaping what courses will be published in the future.
Networking with New Professors
Conferences also provide an excellent opportunity to network with new professors who may be considering adopting the courseware and ebooks I represent for the first time. By introducing myself and discussing the benefits of the materials, I can help these educators make informed decisions about their course selections. I find it incredibly satisfying to know that I can make a positive impact on the teaching and learning experience.
Understanding Student Engagement
Attending psychology conferences also gives me the chance to learn about what makes students engaged in their courses. By listening to presentations and participating in discussions, I can identify effective teaching strategies and incorporate them into my professional and personal projects. Understanding student perspectives helps me create materials that are relevant, engaging, and supportive of student success.
Collaborating with Other Publishers
Networking with other publishers at conferences is another valuable aspect of my attendance. By discussing industry trends, sharing best practices, and exploring potential collaborations, I can stay informed about the latest developments in the field and position the company I work for as a leader in undergraduate psychology ebooks and interactive courseware.
Also, I love the science of Psychology! It's my jam! So, being able to integrate teaching strategies from a group of professionals I am genuinely interested in keeps my intrinsic motivator fuel tank very full! I love feeling happy and fulfilled about the work I do.
